Nick Asher
(PRO)
Nick has made a point of being around snow for most of his life. He has worked as a ski patroller since 2007 after living at Alta, UT for 3 winters. This is where Nick took his first avalanche course and the hook was set. Since then, avalanches and everything about them has grown into a passion and he has dedicated his adult life to learning about them. This dedication led to teaching others about avalanches and how to recreate and work around them.
Nick is the current Avalanche Program Manager at Mt Hood Meadows Ski Resort in Oregon. He has trained and certified an obstinate, but adorable and retired avalanche rescue dog named Penny as well as started an avalanche education program at Mt. Hood Meadows. He has also been a part of the Meadows Howitzer Program for over 10 years, worked with the NPS as a Denali Rescue Volunteer, helped the Northwest Avalanche Center as a Pro Observer, and worked as Ski Patrol Manager and Snow Safety Officer at a ski field in New Zealand. Nick lives in Hood River, OR and likes to spend his free time outside with his wife and dog.
