This 2 day course is open to the public and designed for avalanche practitioners and avid recreationalists. Anyone interested in mountain weather phenomena is welcome to attend, and no previous meteorological education is required.

Public safety and transportation professionals are also encouraged to take this course in order to help them understand mountain weather systems and the resources available. 

Participants will interact with experienced weather forecasters and work in small groups to generate and present their own forecasts. A laptop computer with wireless capability is required.

The course will run daily from 8AM to 5PM, with a lunch break. Morning sessions will provide a basic understanding of meteorological principles applied to weather in mountainous areas. Afternoon sessions will focus on using publicly available weather information to create a local forecast. More information will be emailed to registrants prior to the start of the workshop.

This is in partnership with The Colorado Avalanche Information Center (CAIC) and Colorado Mountain College.
